MUN’s Grenfell Campus Launches New Virtual Classroom Platform

CORNER BROOK, NL — Students at Memorial University’s Grenfell campus now have a new tool to find and access their virtual courses.

MUN announced that students will be able to access a new system called VirtualGC which will serve as a single platform listing a wide range of online, distance and flexible courses.

Ian Sutherland, vice-president of the Grenfell campus, said the pandemic has shown that flexibility and accessibility are important for students.

“The pandemic has taught us a lot about the student experience and how we need to improve it. Greater course diversity and accessibility is part of that,” Sutherland said.

He hopes that VirtualGC can be an additional tool that will help more students succeed.

“VirtualGC is a one stop shop for all our virtual learning opportunities, a digital complement to what the Grenfell campus is all about – a rich and vibrant campus life, where every student is a name and is on a learning journey personalized towards success.”

The site also includes a new explanatory video to guide applicants through the simplified application steps.

Over the next winter semester, several Grenfell courses are open to undergraduate students, including Introductions to Business and Entrepreneurship, Cultural and Heritage Tourism Development, Art History and introduction to sustainable rural communities.
