IIT Guwahati to Host Courses to Train Assam Government Agents on Drone Technology – Edexlive

IIT Guwahati on Wednesday, May 4, announced a collaboration with the Assam Survey and Settlement Training Center (ASSTC) to offer several training programs for its officers. The institute will conduct courses related to the operation, training, maintenance, data collection and application of drones in various sectors, according to a statement. ASSTC officers will also undergo theoretical courses on modern land management and research and projects by leveraging their respective expertise in this field, he added.

“This is the first time across the country that drone technology training will be delivered to all officer levels and is a unique step to integrating knowledge-based technology advancement into the curriculum. training for state officials,” IIT Guwahati said in a statement, according to a PTI report. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the two institutions in the presence of Assam’s Minister of Revenue and Disaster Management, Jogen Mohan, Director of IIT Guwahati, TG Sitharam, and others responsible.

Commenting on the tie-up, Mohan said, “In this new era of technology and education, this MoU is a big step forward to help the region. This will help the region and encourage people to work for the development of the region. Sitharam said IIT Guwahati specifically recognizes this futuristic step and looks forward to technology-based networking and academic training programs, both on-campus and on-site.

“I am very happy that today we can initiate the academic courses related to this drone technology at ASSTC and in the near future we hope to make a more positive contribution to the state and expand this technology to various other sectors. , ” he added. In accordance with the MoU, IIT Guwahati will provide training to administrative and technical staff in investigation and settlement, as well as private applicants. ASSTC and IIT Guwahati will work closely to collaborate and cooperate with each other to meet the needs of officers in the department.

The duration of the course work will be one week for RCCC students and four days for the officer class, including an exam, delivery of a project report and a presentation at the end of the session.
