KOCHI: To ensure that students have access to better teaching and learning resources, the Center for Electronic Content Development (CDeC) at Cochin University of Science and Technology (Cusat) has developed courses skills/employment focused open online. (MOOCs). CDeC faculty members have developed nine online courses focused on professional skills.
MOOCs have now established themselves as a viable approach to delivering education that combines traditional and online learning, as outlined in the National Education Policy (NEP).
Cusat has set up the CDeC to design and develop MOOCs in accordance with UGC guidelines. Cusat said the courses aim to create a unique educational opportunity for all sections of society, especially the most backward, to broaden their knowledge horizons.
“The CDeC has created nine MOOCs in various disciplines for the online learning of the student community. The CDeC has set up all the necessary infrastructures for the video recording of MOOC courses. Infrastructure facilities include a soundproof recording studio, advanced 4K video recording camera, interactive display units and high-end workstations for video editing, high-end server and storage SAN (Storage Area Network) for video streaming and advanced microphones with high audio quality. quality,” a Cusat statement said.
The courses developed are in the field of Marine Science, Applied Chemistry, Management, Law, Hindi, Safety Engineering and Environmental Science. The CDeC intends to complete course registration in other advanced areas during the current academic year.
Cusat Vice-Chancellor KN Madhusoodanan officially released the CDeC activity report by delivering a copy to University Registrar Meera V last week.
